Thank you to everyone for sharing your views or asking a question about this project.
Council has not made a decision to build a BMX pump track at this location, and we apologise if our communications didn’t make this clear to our community. We are considering this site as a possible location for a track, and this initial consultation has provided officers with an opportunity to understand local community interest and concerns.
We are now pausing this consultation to consider the significant feedback we have received to date, and will provide an update once we’ve reviewed all contributions so far. In the meantime, you can click the ‘Follow’ button at the top of the page to receive project updates.
Have your say on our community's new BMX pump track
Council is considering a proposal for a BMX pump track in Garden City Reserve.
During COVID-19 lockdowns, a local Port Melbourne community built a BMX track at RF Julier Reserve. The track was removed for public safety, and Council received a petition for it to be maintained. In response, Council is proposing to build a BMX pump track within the local area.
An assessment of potential sites has identified Garden City Reserve near the children’s playground as the most suitable location for the pump track. It could provide the local community with a great addition to the park’s offer, and encourage bike riding activities for fun and recreation, as well as supporting exercise and bike riding in a safe environment.
We’re proposing an asphalt track to maximise safety and provide a variety of riding opportunities for bike and scooter riders.
