Thank you to everyone who participated in our online survey. Your valuable input will be taken into consideration for the development of Council's Walk Plan and Cycle Plan due for release in early 2011.

In addition to the online survey, council has also conducted on-site surveys. For more information phone John Bartels on (03)9209 6274 or email jbartels@portphillip.vic.gov.au

Over 150 people filled in the on-line survey. A preliminary summary of the key findings from the on-line survey are:
- Over the 70 percent of the respondents walk on a daily basis in Port Phillip.
- When asked about the main reasons to walk, respondents consider that health and fitness; time outdoors and preference for walking to using a car were the three main reasons people walk.
- When asked about the main reasons people were discouraged from walking respondents anwered they were sensitive to weather conditions and time constraints.
- 84 percent of respondents walk and 70 percent ride with their children to main destinations such as schools and shopping areas.
