This consultation has concluded.

Victorian Councils are required to review and determine the payments made to Councillors after every Council general election. In accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 we seek community input into the proposed Mayor and Councillor allowances for the period 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2017.

Background

A State Government Order in Council was published in the Victorian Government Gazette, October 2012 setting the range of payments for Mayors and Councillors for the three categories of Victorian councils.

Port Phillip City Council is a category 3 Council and the following maximum payments (inclusive of 9% superannuation) apply:

  • Mayoral payment - $93,458 per annum
  • Councillor payment - $29,259 per annum

The Mayor and Councillors of Port Phillip City Council are currently in receipt of the maximum payments for a category 3 Council and it is proposed for the period 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2017 that the Mayor and Councillors continue to receive annually the maximum payments.
