The panel met bright and early on Sunday 25 June on a cold Winter's day morning at the St Kilda Town Hall. At this second workshop, participants had a chance to meet in person for the first time at, get to know each other and delve a little deeper into the development of the principles that will form the basis for the Dog Off-Leash Guidelines.

In this workshop, we covered:

  • Review of previous workshop
  • Knowledge top-up - your questions answered
  • What a principle is and why it's important
  • How other councils are planning for dogs
  • Workshopping principles that form the basis of the Dog Off-Leash Guidelines

During the session, Council Officers shared some potential principles with the group that were drafted based on known information, such as Council's relevant strategies and policies, background research and reports as well as community feedback obtained through the first phase of community engagement.

Participants broke out into small groups and workshopped each principle, deliberating on whether the title of the principle was suitable, the meaning of the principle and how it might be applied in practice. Notes were taken and will be compiled and distributed prior to the next workshop for further discussion.
