The Ferrars Street Education and Community Precinct, located within Montague Precinct in Fishermans Bend, is a community hub including a primary school, community facilities, and a park.

The City of Port Phillip and the Victorian Government have jointly purchased land at 2-4 Buckhurst Street, South Melbourne to create a new community park. Construction began in January and the park will open in spring 2018. We’re undertaking a process to formally name the park. In July 2018, Council endorsed the name Kirrip Park at a Council meeting and submitted the name to the Registrar of Geographic Names for review and registration. For more information visit the park naming page.

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 6 December 2017 Council resolved to adopt road closures to make the precinct safe and accessible for the community, and to expand the size of the new community park. Community consultation about these proposed road closures concluded on 23 October. For more information visit the Montague road closures page.

Barring Djinang Kindergarten for children aged three years and above opened in late January 2018.Community consultation about the kindergarten naming concluded on 1 November.

We will continue to update this page when there are further opportunities to be involved in community consultations for the precinct.
