The City of Port Phillip is committed to providing social and affordable housing to support its diverse and growing community. In 2016 the In Our Backyard - Growing Affordable Housing in Port Phillip 2015 - 2025 Strategy (IoBY) was launched to address housing affordability within the city.

Given significant changes in the housing sector over the last two and a half years, an independent review of the strategy was undertaken to ensure that the objectives, goals and actions reflected emerging, new and best practice approaches in increasing the supply of social and affordable housing.

The draft In Our Backyard Action Plan - 2018-20, seeks to provide clarity on the way the strategic commitment Council have made through In Our Backyard is advanced over the next 12 to 18 months.
