The Indigenous Arts Strategy is aligned with the City of Port Phillip's Reconciliation Action Plan 2012-2015

The Strategy is Council's commitment to long term contributions for program planning, policy, budget processes and maintaining relationships. The strategy will build on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultural strengths that already exist within and around the local area.

It will aid Council in increasing the visibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts in Port Phillip, and improving long term support for local and visiting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

Consultation

Council conducted an online survey and hosted public discussion forum. Feedback from the survey, the forum and from key stakeholders, including Boon Wurrung Arweets, the Local Indigenous Network (LIN) and key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who live or practise in the local area, will help inform a draft strategy and recommendations.
