Many thanks for your feedback. This consultation has concluded.

In December 2014 we asked you for your feedback on Port Phillip library services to better meet your needs. We received 294 responses to our survey made available online and in hardcopy across library branches and town halls.

The top three priorities for the community that come out of the survey were:

  • Access to quality collections and downloadable resources;
  • Improvement to the internet /wi-fi speed and reliability across branches;
  • Upgrades to facilities, in particular at the St Kilda Library

In terms of benefits gained from being connected with the library service, people responded that Port Phillip Library Service:

  • ‘Made my life more enjoyable’ (59%);
  • ’Introduced me to new interests and ideas’ (40%), and
  • ‘Helped me to feel more connected with the community within a safe environment’ (32%).

As part of looking for better ways to deliver service and based on community feedback work is now underway on a major upgrade to the library’s network (public internet in particular). This is expected to be complete by mid-2015, and will deliver significant improvements in terms of both speed and reliability.

We are also hoping to commence forward planning work on options for an upgrade/redevelopment of the main St Kilda branch library.
