What will this upgrade include?

This upgrade will include:

  • Replacement of furniture, shelving and floor carpet
  • Painting
  • A lighting upgrade
  • Installation of RFID (swipe) access (including smart returns and potential for after-hours access) and CCTV
  • Other spatial and acoustic improvements.

This project is co-funded by the State Government's Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

This upgrade will include:

The Middle Park Library upgrade project is being co-funded by the City of Port Phillip's Library Facilities Improvement Program and the State Government's Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, with each providing funding to the amount of $200,000.

There are no plans to reduce the collection size. However, if we find there are competing demands to satisfy something like programmable space or venue accessibility, we may need to consider the collection size. If this was to occur, we would do our best to minimise any necessary reduction in collection size.

Currently, the Middle Park Library opening hours are:

  • Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm
  • Saturday 10am-2pm
  • Sunday closed

There are no plans to change the staffed opening hours of the library.

However, Council may consider library access (unstaffed) for library members outside these hours in future. If this is of interest to you, please complete the feedback form to tell us more.

During the construction period, the project will require some temporary closure of the service. We will notify the community of the impact once construction timelines are finalised, by various communication methods including signage at the front of the library.

Yes, Council has a library app! You can use the Port Phillip Library Service app to search the catalogue, place reservations to collect at any library branch, renew your loans, and much more. Search for 'Port Phillip Library Service' in your app store to download.
