The City of Port Phillip is developing a Multicultural Strategy to strengthen inclusion, belonging, and cultural safety across our diverse community.
This four-year strategy will guide Council’s actions to:
- Address racism and discrimination
- Make services easier to access for multicultural communities
- Celebrate and promote cultural diversity
- Build stronger connections between people and communities
- Port Phillip’s migration story begins with First Nations peoples, the Traditional Custodians of this land.
- Station Pier in Port Melbourne was a major arrival point for migrants, especially after World War II.
- Greek communities settled in Port Melbourne, and Jewish refugees made St Kilda their home.
- Our city’s identity continues to be shaped by both long-standing communities and new arrivals.
We’re committed to creating a city where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe regardless of their cultural and religious background.
