Consultation on the new zones was undertaken in February / March 2014.

A total of 218 submissions were received during the consultation period and there were 62 late responses.

The submissions highlight a diverse range of views on the proposed translation ranging from support for limitations on development and concerns that the proposal was too conservative.

The community supported a balanced approach to directing and managing growth and concerns were raised from individual property owners regarding lost development opportunities.

A summary of the consultation on the new residential zones was presented to Council at its meeting on 22 April 2014. The purpose of that meeting was to provide the opportunity for submitters to make a verbal presentation directly to Council.
