Project Update

We're committed to providing our local community with greater access to safe and accessible public open space. That's why we're upgrading the Pakington Street Reserve to cater for increased usage for the whole community.

We are looking to expand the availability of public open space in the Balaclava and St Kilda areas to provide residents and visitors more opportunities to engage in green open space.

Council’s Places for People: Public Space Strategy 2022 – 2032 identified Pakington Street Reserve as a park that needs to be expanded due to the lack of open space in Balaclava.

The following documents can now be accessed in the document library:

Upgrading the park will ensure continued support of a diverse range of uses and functions, while providing a safe, welcoming environment that supports the physical, social and mental health of the community.

Key features of the concept plan include:

  • Native planting
  • Lawn
  • Seating
  • Artistic elements referencing the historical context of the site and its surrounds.

What's happened so far
