Tidy Walks trial
We’ve installed dog waste bag dispensers in high-traffic areas across Port Phillip as part of a new trial to keep our public spaces clean, safe and inviting.
Our Tidy Walks trial makes it easier to be a responsible pet owner, with 12 waste bag dispensers installed in convenient locations such as parks, shopping precincts and near veterinary clinics.
You can share your thoughts in two simple ways:
- Take a quick poll to tell us what you think about the trial overall.
- Review the dispenser locations on the map and give feedback.
Your ideas will help us understand what’s working and decide if this program should grow.

Take one if you need one – Emergency bags only
We’re asking dog owners to “take one if you need one” so bags stay available for everyone.
With over 8,500 registered dogs in Port Phillip (plus plenty of visiting pups), our dispensers aren’t designed to supply every walk. They’re here as a backup for those times you forget your own bag, so you’re never stuck without a way to clean up after your dog.
What's the law say?
Dog owners are expected to play their part in preventing messy moments for the whole community by picking up after their dogs.
A waste bag must be carried when walking a dog in public. On‑the‑spot fines apply for failure to comply.
