What is happening on Raleigh Street?

The total number of on-street car park spaces on Raleigh Street will not change, however one car park space will be moved to another location along Raleigh Street. There will be no net car park space losses along Raleigh Street.

The tree species Tristaniopsis laurina 'Luscious' has been selected to plant along Raleigh Street. Growing conditions in in-road tree plots are difficult, and only a few species are appropriate for planting in them. An arborist has assessed Raleigh Street and has recommended this species given the particular conditions of this site.

Tristaniopsis laurina 'Luscious' will support local biodiversity by providing shade, refuge and roosting opportunities throughout the year. The flowers provide food for insects and nectar eating birds and fauna such as the grey-headed flying fox.

The proposed locations of tree plots along Raleigh Street have been chosen to maintain lines of sight for drivers, riders and pedestrians, to take into account traffic turning considerations, and to avoid reducing car park spaces along Raleigh Street.
