Sociability

  • Find out current perceptions of safety, cleanliness and comfortability of the park for users as well as impact on adjacent residences.
  • Love the diversity of households and different needs - support the park.
  • Recognise need to support extra play area for kids at school.
  • Community not consulted prior to the trial.
  • Concern that only ‘loud voices’ heard, but not representative of all community views.
  • Children excited in being involved in growing herbs and plants.

Users & Activities

  • No need for a park here.
  • High need for a park for kids to use.
  • Late night ball games impact residents.
  • Seen to be giving Council land to the school – land grab by school.
  • Committment by Council that residents would retain access to the park - will this happen?
  • Potential invasion of privacy.
  • Would love a tennis table.
  • No demand for a community garden.
  • Need to have a public access at all times.
  • Needs to be fenced.
  • APPS is at capacity - so fortunate to be blessed with extra space.
  • Its a big park and kids are having picnics on the grass, playing netball and paretns enjoing sitting in sun.

Access & Linkages

  • Little or no impact to traffic.
  • Will increase traffic up Bridport Street West.
  • No extra traffic - in fact less.
  • Could distrupt mail delivery to apartments.
  • Flow on traffic impacts to adjacent streets.
  • Loss of resident parking.
  • Loss of business/teacher parking.
  • Will increase pressure on resident parking.
  • School drop off and pick up traffic will be impacted.
  • Loss of nature strip.
  • Put it somewhere else.
  • Put in parking restrictions to stop commuters using the parking.
  • Loss of disability/emergency/moving van/taxi access to apartments.
  • No impact at all - just huge benefit.

Comfort & Image

  • Heritage impact on look and feel of area.
  • Increased useable community space.
  • How will the trial’s success be measured?
  • Will there be an impact on property values?
  • We will have excessive noise from ball bouncing and other activity.
  • Make the park larger so it can be better used.
  • Litter will be a problem.
  • It’s a safe play space.
