Project background
We’re developing a Place Plan for the St Kilda Rd Neighbourhood, focusing on the Domain-Lakeside area. The Plan will help Council understand local needs, coordinate future investment and identify practical actions to improve the neighbourhood over time.
It will bring together what Council already knows, what the community has told us, and what future growth may mean for the area. This will help guide decisions about public spaces, movement, safety, greening, services, community infrastructure and advocacy.
What did we ask?
From 7 until 30 August 2026, community members were invited to share what they value about the St Kilda Road neighbourhood and their ideas for its future. We asked participants about priorities for growth, transport, public spaces, neighbourhood character, community facilities, local services, safety and sustainability, as well as how the area could become more welcoming, connected and liveable.
Who did we hear from?
We heard from a total of 217 people who provided feedback via an online survey, uploaded feedback, pop-up conversations and targeted discussions.
- 134 respondents provided feedback on the Domain Area - Dorcas Street, Kings Way, St Kilda Road
- 82 respondents provide feedback on Queens Lane North - Kings Way, St Kilda Road, Queens Road, Albert Reserve
- 65 respondents provided feedback on Queens Lane South - Albert Reserve, St Kilda Road, Queens Road
- 34 respondents provided feedback on Punt Road Interface - Punt Road, St Kilda Road, High Street
What did we hear?
Across all engagement activities, participants highlighted managing growth and development, traffic and parking, and high-quality streets and public spaces as priorities for the St Kilda Road Neighbourhood.
While many themes were shared across the St Kilda Road neighbourhood, some priorities varied between the four identified neighbourhood areas. Key themes raised by participants included:

- Desire for more activity, local services and neighbourhood vibrancy.
- Interest in better use of public spaces.
Queens Lane North

- Desire for more local services, community facilities and greenery.
- Interest in safer, more walkable streets.

- Desire for a stronger neighbourhood identity and more local services.
Punt Road Interface

What happens next?
Based on your feedback, local studies and reports, we will develop a St Kilda Road Neighbourhood Place Plan. It will bring together what Council is already doing and what matters locally, while identifying priorities for future funding
