Proposed change: to discontinue service

Saving to Council in 2020/21: $228,000

In the 2019/20 Council Budget, Council allocated recurrent funding to establish a rapid response crew to manage and respond to amenity and cleansing related requests in the City. This service has not been as effective as originally planned; pressure washing takes place overnight and is difficult to supervise, and there are workplace safety matters that prevent the teams from fully accessing the areas to be cleaned.

It is proposed that service is discontinued and there will be no more regular pressure washing of the Fitzroy Street and Acland Street activity centre streets. A daytime rapid response crew will be available to attend to any urgent biohazard requests across the municipality.

What do you think about discontinuing the pressure washing service for activity centres?
