Our libraries play a vital and valued role in shaping the cultural and social character of our City.

We’re developing a Library Action Plan (the draft Plan) to ensure libraries continue to support our community as hubs for creativity, knowledge and connectivity.

We know that libraries in Port Phillip are well loved and well used. Our five library branches, online services and outreach programs reach more than 55,000 people. And we have one of the highest library membership rates in Victoria.

Our community comes first. The draft Plan will allow our libraries to respond to current and future community needs for spaces and services, programming, collections, resources and emerging technology. It will help to better inform and direct service development and delivery for the next five years.

What’s happened so far?

From May to October 2019 we asked the community to provide their ideas about how our libraries could do more to help them. Based on this feedback we have developed a Library Action Plan (the draft Plan) which reflects what we heard from the community.

From February to March 2021 we asked the community for feedback on our draft Library Action Plan. To ensure the Plan represents the current and future needs of our community we want to make sure we’ve also heard from parents and young people in our community.

Share your feedback before 16 April 2021.
