Project update Raglan Street
Council has advised that the Greening Raglan Street project has been delayed following community feedback.
While there is support for more greening, trees, shade and biodiversity, the community also highlighted the importance of protecting Raglan Street’s existing character, particularly its iconic plane tree avenue.
Council will undertake further work before proceeding, including:
- Developing a long-term tree replacement and species selection strategy.
- Ensuring canopy cover and neighbourhood character are maintained as trees are renewed.
- Planning for electric line clearance requirements.
- Continuing coordination with Metro Trains Melbourne and VicTrack.
Council acknowledged community concerns about potential canopy and amenity loss and has decided to take additional time to explore options before committing to a specific planting approach.
Importantly, the project is delayed, not cancelled. Council remains committed to delivering greening improvements and will provide an update on timing and next steps once this work is complete.
Project update Fulton Street
Following strong community support, the Greening Fulton Street project will proceed to detailed design, with construction planned for the 2026–27 financial year.
We have brought your feedback together into a report that highlights the key themes and sentiments shared by the community during this engagement. Overall, feedback showed support for increasing greening, shade and biodiversity, while also highlighting the importance of maintaining the character and amenity of both streets.
