The City of Port Phillip is growing rapidly. Over the next 10 years, we are projected to grow to a population of almost 150,000 people, which is a 30% increase from today. This growth will increase demand for travel across our city, placing greater pressure on an already constrained transport network.

As demand rises, Council faces the challenge of reducing congestion, improving safety and ensuring people have a range of reliable transport options. Our new Integrated Transport Strategy will guide transport investment over the next decade, setting out the actions needed to create a more connected, sustainable and liveable city.

Community input will play a key role in shaping the Strategy. We want to hear from everyone who walks, wheels, rides a bike, drives or uses public transport in our city. Share your views on how transport should evolve as the City of Port Phillip grows by completing one of the activities below or speaking with us in person before 11.59pm on Sunday 6 December 2026.

On this page you can:

How will your feedback change this project?

You can provide feedback on:

  • your current travel behaviour including areas of concern and current barriers for other forms of transport.
  • current transport priorities and where Council should focus as our city grows.
  • how Council balances community priorities for difficult transport decisions.

This feedback will be collated and presented to the community working group to support their work in the next stage of engagement.

  • Council’s need to plan for growth.
  • Council’s commitment to reducing C02 emissions, as required by the Climate Change Act 2017.
  • Current priorities outlined in Federal, Victorian or Port Phillip Road Safety Strategies.
  • Council’s commitment to accessibility and accessible design principles.
  • Areas outside Council’s responsibility such as policing or law enforcement of unsafe behaviour on our roads.
  • Projects on state-managed roads and state-government public transport projects.

Following this stage of engagement, Council will establish a community working group in March and April 2027.

The group will take part in a series of workshops to help develop a draft vision, principles and priorities for the new Strategy. The workshops will draw on the Plan for Port Phillip, feedback from the first stage of engagement, community needs, best practice and legal requirements.

The working group will be made up of a randomly selected group of community members that reflects the diversity of our city. This includes people from different backgrounds who use a variety of different forms of transport.

If you would like to be considered for the working group, complete the Expression of Interest form using this link. by 11.59pm on Sunday 6 December 2026 . To ensure a fair and balanced process, participants will be selected independently of Council.

People invited to join the group will be notified in early 2027 and provided with more information about the next steps.
