We'd like your feedback on the Draft Concept Plan

Thanks for helping shape the design of a new play space at Ludwig Stamer Reserve.

We have used your feedback to develop the draft concept plan (available to view in the Document Library on this page).

What's happened so far?

We're upgrading the play space at Ludwig Stamer Reserve as part of our playground renewal program to ensure the reserve is a safe and fun place for our community to enjoy.

Following initial community engagement in December 2021, a draft concept plan has been developed for Ludwig Stamer Reserve. We are now asking for feedback on the draft concept plan.

Key features of the draft concept plan include:

  • a new play equipment unit compliant with current Australian Standards, featuring much-loved play elements from the existing unit, and new accessible play elements with ramped access;
  • a new double swing with standard seat and baby seat, an in-ground trampoline and nature play elements;
  • an accessible pathway linking the park entries to play areas, seating and other park amenities;
  • new seating with backs and armrests to replace the existing bench seating;
  • a new accessible picnic setting and drinking fountain; and
  • native tree and shrub planting.

Retaining the existing trees in the reserve was a key consideration of the play space design. All existing trees have been assessed by arborists to the ensure the safety of reserve users. Seven trees have been recommended for removal, to be replaced with five new trees that are suitable for the size and conditions of the reserve.

If you want to talk to the project staff, we will be at:

• Thursday 2 June, 3 pm to 5 pm at the reserve.

• Saturday 4 June, 10 am to 1 pm (Please note due to wet weather this will now be at Emerald Hill Library, 195 Bank St, South Melbourne)
