Council is seeking to make the temporary park at Moubray St into a permanent park
Moubray Street, Albert Park, between Withers Street and Bridport Street West has been closed to traffic and used as a shared community space since 2013.
In August-September this year, we checked in with the community to see how that space would be best used into the future. During the consultation period, we heard that there was strong community support to keep the space closed off from cars and retained as a park.
As a result, Council is now going through the process of closing that section of the road to through traffic permanently. If successful, the space will be upgraded into a permanent park. Improving access and community use, as well as increasing greening and tree planting in the park.
The process of permanently closing the road includes a period of advertising and an opportuninty for public submissions.
