  • aa... As the ‘a’ in ‘pass’
  • ng... As in ‘ng’ in English ‘singer’
  • dj... As English ‘j’ or ‘ch’
  • rn... An ‘n’ sound, but with the tongue curled back behind the gum ridge
  • ny... As the ‘n’ in ‘news’ – even at the end of a word
  • n... As English ‘n’
  • rr... As a rolled or trilled ‘r’ sound
  • r... An English ‘r’ sound, as in ‘round’
  • y... As English ‘y’
  • t or d... As English ‘t’ or ‘d’. Traditionally somewhere between these two sounds
