Council is committed to delivering safe, inclusive and high‑quality facilities to meet the growing needs of netball within Port Phillip.

As the most popular sport for women and girls in Victoria, demand for netball continues to rise, and current facilities can’t keep pace.

Did you know?

This is why we are looking to install four new outdoor competition-standard netball courts and a new inclusive pavilion at JL Murphy Reserve.

This project supports our Fair Access in Sport Policy and promotes gender equity and community wellbeing.

Why JL Murphy Reserve?

Following detailed studies, JL Murphy Reserve has emerged as one of the only viable locations for new courts, offering strong integration with existing sporting facilities.

Elder Smith Reserve was initially assessed for this project. However, after investigating further, Council hasn’t proceeded here due to major infrastructure risks and higher costs from the presence of underground services.
