Project background

As part of developing the Year 2 Plan for Port Phillip, which guides Council’s work and budget for 2026–27, we asked the community to share ideas for the year ahead.

While most funding was already allocated, there is some flexibility to respond to new issues. We asked our community to share their ideas from 17 November 2025 until 1 February 2026.

Community feedback will help guide the plan and budget for the year ahead.

What did we ask?

We asked community members and organisations to share ideas for the upcoming year that would benefit the Port Phillip community.

They were asked how their idea supports Council priorities, the outcomes they would deliver, identify who would benefit and how many people would be impacted.

We also asked about readiness to deliver, costs and value for money, required support or resources, and whether other funding options had been explored.

Who did we hear from?

What did we hear and how did it affect the outcome?

We received 91 ideas from the community. These ideas largely focused on five main themes:

  • Bringing people together and strengthening community connections
  • Improving local places to make them more welcoming and liveable
  • Enhancing safety in public spaces
  • Supporting health, wellbeing and active lifestyles
  • Supporting local businesses and creating local jobs.

The feedback will inform the draft Plan and Budget for the 2026/2027 financial year.

What happens next?

We're drafting the Budget for the 2026-27 financial year. From 1 May until 31 May 2026, we'll ask for your feedback to make sure our priorities and planned spending still reflect what's important to you.
