We are replacing the Point Ormond Reserve playground as part of our Playground Renewal Program. In recent years, the playground equipment has steadily declined with several elements already removed. Our playground concept plan responds to this special location, catering to all ages and abilities and will meet the current Australian Standards. As part of these works, we have also considered improvements to the picnic and barbecue areas, and pathways to and around the reserve.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, Council has reviewed all capital and operating projects, including Point Ormond Reserve playground. Funding for Point Ormond Reserve Playground has been put on hold in the next financial year but will be reconsidered in the 2021/22 budget. We will provide updates on this page once funding is confirmed.

Yes, the design considers improvements to seating, picnic tables, barbecues, connectivity, way finding signage and park planting. See the concept plan for more detail of these proposed improvements.

The concept plan is based on preserving existing trees, including the mature Norfolk Island Pines. Every effort will be made to minimise impact on existing trees and native vegetation during the design process. There will also be additional planting as part of the upgrade.

Yes, a planning permit is required to demolish the playground and Coastal Crown Consent in needed for any major development along the foreshore. The planning permit process has been completed and the Coastal Crown Consent will be submitted once the design is finalised.
