The Port Melbourne Waterfront Activation project will see Council partnering with business, local residents and the wider community to shape the future of the waterfront precinct. The project aims to ensure all businesses and residents have the opportunity to take a lead role in the future of Port Melbourne Waterfront. The resulting Activation Plan will establish a vision for the centre as well as short term actions and longer term strategies to realise that vision. The plan will be clear in its intent, achievable and establish shared responsibilities between Council, business and local residents so that we can work together on its delivery.

Council has engaged ‘Place Partners’, experts in creating active, healthy and vibrant places, to ensure a facilitated approach with the community, business, Council and other key stakeholders in formulating  the plan and priority actions that can be implemented within two years.

The first phase included an audit of the area, community and business surveys and feedback from previous consultation, and focus group discussions to identify opportunities for the area. We then turned these ideas into actions for the activation plan. We are identifying partnerships with business and community, so we can work together to help deliver and achieve the ideal future place for Port Melbourne Waterfront.
