Our local shopping areas are an important part of community life, but some need improvement. People have told us there is too much focus on traffic, not enough greenery, and some spaces feel outdated. This program helps us make simple, practical improvements that make these areas safer, greener and more welcoming.

This program specifically focused on small improvements that can benefit community quickly and easily. Larger projects are continuing around the municipality. Stay up to date with these on Have your Say and our project pages.

Bridport Street/Victoria Avenue, Armstrong Street, and Ormond Road/Glen Huntly Road are busy local centres that many people visit. They have good potential for improvement, so we are starting here to test small changes and see what works best for the community, local businesses and visitors.

Your feedback will help us decide which improvements to prioritise. This includes what changes people want most and where they should happen. We will share a summary of what we heard, and use it to guide future upgrades.

After the consultation, we will review the feedback and prioritise the most supported improvements. Some smaller changes, like seating or greenery, can be delivered sooner. We will keep you updated as the project progresses.

This is a program across Port Phillip to make sure improvements are guided by local communities. We are starting with a few streets to test simple changes and see what works well. What we learn will help us plan future upgrades in other villages, so they suit each area’s character and needs.
