We are exploring a major greening opportunity in Alexandra Street, St Kilda East.
Feedback from the first round of community engagement in November 2025 has directly informed the draft concept design, helping shape a greener, cooler and more liveable neighbourhood. We are now seeking your input to help refine and finalise the draft concept design.

What changes we have you made based on your feedback
🌳 More trees and green space
- The community strongly supported adding more greenery. The design maximises space for trees and planting along Alexandra Street wherever possible.
🚗 Car parking changes
- Many people supported reducing on-street parking. Some parking will be removed to make room for more trees, landscaping and a better street experience.
🌱 Planting approach
- There was a clear preference for native and local plants. The design focuses on species that flower and support bees, birds and other wildlife.
🚦 Safer, calmer street
- Concerns about speed and safety led to the inclusion of traffic calming measures to create a safer, more comfortable street for everyone.
💧 Sustainable water use
- The community highlighted sustainability and tree health. The design includes features to capture and reuse stormwater, helping plants thrive and creating a more resilient streetscape.
