Environmental and Landscape Values

Introduces local policy relating to the importance of biodiverse landscapes and the municipality's coast from content previously contained in the Local Planning Policy Framework of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme at Clauses 21.04 (Land Use), 21.05 (Built Form), and 22.09 (St Kilda Area Foreshore Policy). Largely policy neutral with minor updates to reflect strategic documents.

The Urban Forest Policy (Clause 12.01-1L of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme) seeks to protect significant trees and promote suitable sustainable tree planting and landscaping in new developments.

The Urban Forest Policy implements Greening Port Phillip: An Urban Forest Approach (City of Port Phillip, 2010) which has been endorsed by Council.

Otherwise the content has largely come from existing policy in Clause 21.05 (Built Form) of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme.

This document shows where each part of the new policy has come from.

Protection of Port Phillip's Coast policy (Clause 12.02-1L of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme) seeks to protect and enhance the natural and built environment of Port Phillip's coastline.

The Protection of Port Phillip's Coast policy implements the land use and development outcomes in line with the Foreshore Management Plan (City of Port Phillip, 2012), Biodiversity Study Map (City of Port Phillip, 2020) and Recreational Boating Facilities Framework (City of Port Phillip, 2014), all of which have been endorsed by Council.

Otherwise the content has come from existing policy in Clause 21.04 (Land Use) and Clause 22.09 (St Kilda Foreshore Policy) of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme.

This document shows where each part of the new policy has come from.
