Housing

Introduces the following local policies, which define locations for new housing and promote diverse and affordable housing, from content previously contained in the Local Planning Policy Framework. Updates references to background documents and updates content based on In Our Backyard: Growing Affordable Housing in Port Phillip 2015-2025, with the location of residential development, zones and overlays remaining unchanged.

The Housing Diversity policy (Clause 16.01-1L-01 of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme) contains strategies that aid the provision of a mix of housing types.

The Housing Diversity policy is generally policy neutral with some updates in line with the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines (Liveable Housing Australia, 2017).

Otherwise the content has largely come from existing policy in Clause 21.04 (Land Use) of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme.

The Location of Residential Development policy (Clause 16.01-1L-02 of the Port Phillip Planning Scheme) contains strategies providing guidance on suitable locations for housing growth.

This policy has been a policy neutral translation, with the content largely coming from existing policy in Clause 21.04 (Land Use) in the Port Phillip Planning Scheme.
