What we already know

Fennell Reserve was identified as the preferred location for a new fenced dog area following community consultation and assessment against Council's Dog Off-Leash Guideline, and was endorsed by Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 20 August 2025 due to its accessibility, visibility, existing amenities, available space, and ability to service current and future community demand.

Fennell Reserve is a well-used community space, and the community is passionate about its future. Through previous conversations with local residents and park users, we have heard support for:

  • Additional off-leash dog areas
  • Drinking fountains, including dog water bowls
  • Double-gated entries
  • A secure, fenced area for dogs
  • Agility equipment
  • Seating and shaded areas

We have also heard some concerns, including:

  • A dog park could reduce opportunities for other activities currently undertaken at the reserve
  • There may be potential conflicts between dogs and cyclists and the need for safe shared use of the space

We're now seeking feedback on a proposed design for the reserve to better understand community priorities and identify any improvements that could be made before the design is finalised.
